Our Commitment

You Should Feel Safe Everywhere — Including Here

Every OCC trip is designed so you can fully show up, let go, and feel at home — whether you're travelling solo for the first time or you're a seasoned adventurer. Your safety, comfort, and wellness are never an afterthought. They're the foundation everything is built on.

01 · People

Who You'll Be Travelling With

Every person who joins an OCC trip is individually vetted before being accepted into the group. We review applications, have conversations, and trust our gut. The goal is a group of like-minded, respectful, open-hearted people who genuinely want to connect.

What you can expect from every OCC group:

  • A curated, small group — typically 8 to 14 people
  • A majority women-identifying space, welcoming all backgrounds
  • Zero tolerance for harassment, discrimination, or disrespectful behaviour
  • A group chat before the trip so you already know faces before you land
  • Quinn present on every trip as group leader and point of contact

If at any point during a trip you feel uncomfortable with another traveller's behaviour, you can come directly to Quinn — privately and without judgment. Action will be taken immediately.

02 · Leadership

Quinn's Role on Every Trip

Quinn personally leads every Outer Current Club trip. She is not a corporate tour guide — she is a traveller, a community builder, and someone who genuinely cares about every person in the group.

  • Available 24/7 throughout the trip for any concern, big or small
  • Pre-researches local safety conditions, hospitals, and emergency contacts for every destination
  • Carries a group emergency kit and first aid supplies on all trips
  • Has established relationships with trusted, vetted local guides at each destination
  • Creates daily check-ins so everyone is accounted for and heard

You are never left to figure things out alone. If something doesn't feel right — logistics, a person, an activity, anything — Quinn wants to know.

03 · Activities

Staying Safe in the Wild

OCC trips include a range of activities — from hiking and surfing to sailing and night markets. Not everything is for everyone, and that's completely fine. Every activity includes:

  • A clear briefing beforehand — what to expect, risks, what to wear, and any fitness requirements
  • Certified or experienced local guides for anything water-based, at height, or in remote terrain
  • Proper safety equipment — life vests, helmets, harnesses — provided where required
  • An opt-out, always — no pressure, no judgment. Every activity is participation-by-choice
  • Group buddy system — no one goes anywhere alone unless they choose to

Water activities follow strict protocols. No one enters open water without Quinn being aware, and all water excursions are accompanied by a guide or experienced sailor.

04 · Health

Health & Wellness on the Road

Before every trip, you'll complete a brief health form so Quinn is aware of any medical conditions, allergies, or medications that could affect your safety during activities or meals.

  • Dietary requirements are communicated to all restaurants and hosts in advance
  • Allergies — severe or otherwise — are flagged to the whole team
  • Mental wellness matters just as much as physical wellness. If you're struggling, reaching out to Quinn is always welcome and always confidential
  • Rest days are built into every itinerary — no one should feel like they have to keep up
  • Travel insurance is required for all OCC trips. Quinn will share recommended providers during the booking process

Quinn maintains a list of the nearest medical facilities and English-speaking doctors for every destination. In a genuine emergency, she will accompany you and help communicate with local services.

05 · Accommodation

Where You Sleep Matters

Every accommodation on an OCC trip is personally researched and vetted for safety, cleanliness, and location. Quinn stays in the same accommodation as the group — she is never in a separate hotel.

  • Accommodations are chosen in safe, well-lit, accessible areas
  • All rooms have functioning locks; Quinn checks this on arrival
  • For shared accommodation, room pairings are always arranged with consent
  • Private rooms are available on most trips for those who prefer them — ask during booking
  • Quinn's room number is shared with every traveller at check-in

06 · Community

How We Treat Each Other

OCC is a community before it's a travel company. Every traveller agrees to the following when they book:

  • Treat every person in the group — and every local we encounter — with kindness and respect
  • No racism, sexism, homophobia, or any form of discrimination. Full stop
  • Respect personal boundaries, physical space, and consent at all times
  • Don't photograph another traveller without their permission
  • Excessive alcohol or substance use that affects the group or creates risk will not be tolerated
  • If a situation makes someone uncomfortable, they have the right to say so and be heard

Anyone who violates these expectations may be asked to leave the trip without a refund. This is rare — but the safety and comfort of the group always comes first.

07 · Emergencies

If Something Goes Wrong

Quinn maintains a full emergency protocol document for every trip, shared with all travellers before departure. This includes:

  • Local emergency services numbers (police, ambulance, coastguard)
  • Nearest hospital and urgent care with English support
  • Quinn's direct phone number (available 24/7 during the trip)
  • The nearest embassy or consulate for your nationality
  • Travel insurance claim contacts and policy reference

In any emergency situation, Quinn's first priority is the safety of the individual. All non-urgent group activities will pause until the situation is resolved.

Have a specific concern before booking?
Quinn is always happy to talk through any safety question — no matter how big or small. Drop a message on the contact page and expect a personal reply within 48 hours.
